Raniel will step into the Arena Pantanal for the first time as a rival of Cuiabá defending Corinthians this Monday, at 7:00 PM (Brasília time), when both teams face each other in a direct clash in the struggle against relegation in the Brazilian Championship. The 27-year-old midfielder arrives for the match living his worst moment at the São Paulo club and as the center of a public dispute over a debt Corinthians has with Cuiabá for his signing.
Cuiabá recently filed a complaint with the National Chamber for Dispute Resolution (CNRD) of the Brazilian Football Confederation against Corinthians due to a delay in the payment of installments related to Raniele's transfer. The value of the debt is around R$14 million, according to the president of the Mato Grosso team.
In the contract signed at the end of 2023, Corinthians committed to pay for Raniele's transfer in four installments: a down payment of 800 thousand euros (paid in January); 400 thousand euros by August 1st (not paid); 400 thousand euros by November 30th (pending); 900 thousand euros in July 2025 (outstanding). By contract, the delay of any of the installments would obligate Corinthians to pay the total value of the contract up front. Despite acknowledging the debt, the São Paulo team does not have a timeline to resolve the issue.
Raniele played 49 times for Corinthians in 2024, starting in 45 of those matches. The midfielder quickly established himself in the first team and emerged as one of the main players early in the season. However, he fell out of favor with the arrival of manager Ramón Díaz.
